The Expo, which is the centrepiece of Forest Industries 2011, runs for three days until Wednesday 7 September at the Energy Events Centre and features the latest wood processing machinery from around the world, with new wood products, sawmilling equipment, scanning technology, software and research displays.

The Minister also launched the Bay of Plenty regional forestry and wood processing strategy, developed in conjunction with the industry over the past 18 months.

In tandem with the Expo are 14 BNZ Tech Clinics on aspects of the industry, a one-day international conference on innovation and new products for timber building, a Winning With Wood innovation breakfast, and the Forest Industries Training and Education Council national awards dinner.

Forest Industries 2011 is timed to attract international visitors to the Rugby World Cup and is linked with Winning With Wood, a national showcase of wood products innovation at more than sites und New Zealand.
